About Masons Eyecare

Masons Eyecare has been your local Kempsey Optometrist for over 70 years and we are very proud to be a part of the Macleay Valley. The practice was originally opened by Doug Mason prior to 1942 in Smith Street, Kempsey. His wife Dulcie also joined him as an optometrist and they ran the business together for many years whilst raising a family. Their son Steve Mason took over the family business and ran it until 1999 when Ben Bailey became the resident optometrist. In 2006 Ben and Eddie, a qualified optical dispenser, purchased the business.

It has been their endeavour since purchasing the business to make it the pre-eminent optical practice on the coast and along with their staff they are fully committed to this aim.

Ben Bailey – Optometrist. Ben has lived in the Macleay Valley since 1999, originally a Dubbo boy he has worked around the country before deciding on the Macleay as his home. Bens focus is to provide his patients with the very best care they will recieve anywhere and it is with this in mind that he is continually upgrading his qualifications including completing his Therapeutics course which means he can now prescribe prescription drugs for some eye conditions.

Naomi Keast – Optometrist. Naomi has been practising as an Optometrist in the Macleay Valley for over 20 years after graduating from UNSW before we welcomed her to the team at Masons Eyecare. She performs detailed examinations of each patient’s vision and eye health using the latest available technology. Naomi is married with two girls and is a long term resident at Arakoon, South West Rocks. Naomi has also completed her Therapeutics course which means she can now prescribe prescription drugs for some eye conditions.

Eddie Moore – Optical Dispenser. Eddie was born in Griffith and also worked around the country before purchasing the business with Ben in 2006. Eddie has also completed a Bachelor of Management degree and brings that expertise with him into Masons Eyecare.

Emma Storm – Optical Dispenser. Emma is a local Kempsey girl who was born and raised up-river on her families property. Emma joined the Australian Army after High School and once discharged started her traineeship as an Optical Dispenser in 2014. She completed her Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing and is now completing her Bachelor of Business degree.

Nathan Pepperell – Optical Dispenser. Nathan is a local Kempsey boy who started working at Masons Eyecare after finishing High School. He has completed his Traineeship and is now a qualified Optical Dispenser. He is a sports fanatic and lives with his partner in Gladstone with their oversized beagle dog, Archie.
