Optical Coherence Tomography

The Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) takes a detailed 3D scan below the surface of your retina, which provides our optometrists with a detailed picture of your eye health.

The OCT is one of few devices which reveals in-depth images of the eye’s internal structures. This device is a diagnostic aid for serious eye diseases such as glaucoma, macula holes, age related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy and also aids our optometrists in monitoring such eye diseases.

As we age, our retinas may change and produce no physical symptoms that are visible on the surface, the OCT detects any early signs that aid in early prevention.

Because the very early signs of some diseases may show up in this exam, it is advised to consult either Ben or Naomi if you experience any of the following symptoms:

• Blurred or “fuzzy” vision
• Straight lines, such as sentences on a page, appearing wavy or distorted
• Blurry areas on a printed page
• Difficulty reading or seeing details in low light levels
• Extra sensitivity to glare

Topography is a non-invasive medical imaging technique for mapping the surface curvature of the cornea, the outer structure of the eye.

It can detect subtle irregularities to the ocular surface, which is an excellent tool for the detection of dry eye.
